Maintain A Good Personal Tiolet Habit

Everyday we are consuming foods at 3 periods i.e. breakfast time, lunch time and dinner time. Just imagine how much we eat in a day. But unfortunately not all the foods that are taken are assimilated into our body system. Those not assimilated are pushed down to our rectums to be discharged. We would feel uncomfortable when we do not go to the tiolet. Further it is harmful to our bodies as the wastes contain many bacterials. Just think of the outcome, if the wastes sit in our bodies for even a day or two.
To be able to have a healthy life, we have to maintain good toilet habits. It is advisable to discharged the wastes at least once a day preferably in the morning when we wake up. Always maintain a regular habit of going to the toilet.
We can know in which state of health we are in by observing our urine or faeces. Yellow and dark urine signal that we are not drinking the correct thing. It is better to avoid drinks of a warm nature like milo, chocolate, coffee, etc and take fruit juice and plain water instead. We would be happy that our faeces are reasonably soft and solid. They are signs of good health. If the stools are solid, try avoiding red meats and eat more foods that are fibrous and contain roughages and drink more water or fruit juices.
With a good and regular toilet habit together with a slight change of diet, would lead us to a more healthier and better life.

Pomegranate Juice

One of my friends whom I consider as worthy, introduces me to take pomegranate juice because of the benefit that it gives him. He has already been introducing it to many of his friends. He is coming to seventy and after drinking it he notices his faded vitality returns. Most of his friends including myself feel the same.
After researching through the net, I find some interesting facts on the fruit ie pomegranate. Since ancient times, it is found widely from Iran to the Himalaya and being grown in large quantities all over the Mediterranean region. It was considered to be related to resurrection in ancient Babylon. Modern science has proof that it possesses restorative power. It contains polyphenois which is a superior antioxidants in large amount. Besides, there are also many nutrients which are beneficial to the human body in pomegranate.
The benefits of taking pomegranate juice are numerous. Just to mention a few. Antioxidants check and minimise the deposit of fatty residue in a human body. The breaking up of waste and purges of toxin from the body. Cell deterioration within a human body is curtailed. Increase of vitality.
Well, having said so far, whether is it myth or otherwise. Believe it or not I have nothing to say. But if you are trying it, always remember that taking anything in excess may do no good to the body. Just take a cup in the morning and one in the evening once two or three days may be just fine. Do not take to the extent that you feel listless without taking it. Let it be a slave to you then you a slave to it!!!

EAT WITH ETHICS

All human begins as well as all things that have lifes need nutrition. Animals, insects, fishes, trees, micro-organisms, etc do have life spans and they too need food to sustain.
Before food is of any use to a human body, its form must be changed. This process is called digestion. Human beings are blessed with a digestive system whereby food is broken down and changes into liquid state from which the nutrients relating to each type of food taken are absorded into the body system.
It happens that I come across a few guidelines from the Chinese Tao dietary system which I like to share with you readers who are visiting my site. The Tao dietary system evolves in relation to the law of Mother Nature. Some ancient Tao practitioners were known to live to a ripe old age. Inspite of their age, they looked younger and still maintain their vitality. They lived in accordance to the interplay of the elements according to Mother Nature's law.
These guidelines are rather common and I believe some of you readers may already have knowledge of them. But anyway I shall present them for the benefit of those who are not aware.
Moderate eating is recommended. Eat poorly and live richly!!! Do not eat until your stomach is expanding and bloat and you feel very full. A 80% filled stomach is the limit. You will feel very comfortable. Another point is that a human body cannot utilise the full amount of nutrients from all the food taken in a meal. So why waste food!
The food must be chewed thoroughly before letting it down the gullet to the stomach where the digestion proper is taking place. It makes the process of digestion in the stomach easier.
Lastly do not take food or drinks that are either too cold or too hot. These categories of food and drinks will interfere with the digestion process which may start from inside of the mouth down to the stomach. So be warned.

The History of the Olympic Games

The 2008 Olympic Games were held in China at Beijing just a few weeks ago and ended with a spectacular closing ceremony. The Olympic Games fever is slowly fading away and people are talking less and less about it. USA athletes grabbed the most medals amounting to 110. Out of this figure 36 were gold, 38 silver and 36 bronze. Next in line were the Chinese athletes who won 100 medals viz 51 gold, 21 silver and 28 bronze. The Russians came in next with 23 gold, 21 silver and 28 bronze totalling 72 medals. United Kingdom had 19 gold, 13 silver and 15 bronze. Germany had 16 gold, 10 silver and 15 bronze. Well the prize winning athletes did give their respective countries pride and honour. The next venue of the Olympic Games will be at London in four years' time.
The Olympic Games originated in the year 776 B.C. and the first was held in Greece. Subsequently the games were held with an interval of 4 years. In A.D. 393, Emperor Theodosius I abolished them.
In the beginning, the Games were a one day affair with wrestling and running only. Later the duration of the Games were changed to 5 days with new items like horse and chariot racing added. Crowns of olive leaves were the prizes which attracted well trained youths from all over Greece. The games were in honour of Zeus, the Olympian God whom the ancient Greeks believed to be the creator of man. An oath was pledged by the competitors before his statue with the notion of competing in honesty and fairness.
The games were reborn again centuries later after a lapse of about 1500 years with the first being held in 1896 at Athens in Greece. The games were again held every four years until the outbreak of the two World Wars. The last games were held in 1912 at Stockholm before World War I. The subsequent games were held in 1920 at Antwerp.
A new arrangement of games called Olympic Winter Games was held in 1924 at Chamonix. The games before World War II was held at Garmiseh-Partenkirchen in 1936 and the subsequently in 1948 at St Moritz.
I hope this article will interest everyone visiting my site.

Breathing

Every human beings including you readers and me living on planet earth which we called home breathe. If we are unable to take in air from the atmosphere and completely stop breathing, our life span on this beautiful place which is earth terminates and we would be pronounced dead. So breathing in every respect of our lifes is very important in sustaining us to keep living on this earth. If anyone has stopped breathing, the next of kins are very worried and jittery and would try all means to revive him.
Breathing is a natural and automatic process built as one of the many organic mechanism within a human body which a person cannot stop permanently unless he so chooses of his own free will or by some unfortunate incidents. So be it whether a person irrespective of which faith he believes wants to keep on taking air from the atmosphere or not he will still breathes.
In breathing the air goes in and then out of the nostrils and that is considered as one cycle of respiration. Natural breathing is shallow and only sustains the person's live. But with conscious effort and concentration to the breathing, many benefits are derived. The air that a person takes in from the atmosphere contains chi which is the energy giving force. With concentrated attention we can develop the chi within our body and cultivate it and in the long run after prolong practices, it can be made use of to heal various illnesses. Besides that it will make a person's body stronger and healthier. His immunity against diseases will be higher. His physical as well as his mental health will improve.
Finally let me describe a simple breathing exercise. It can be done lying down, sitting or standing. Before starting clear the mind of any thoughts. Calm the mind and concentrate on the breathing. Then relax the whole body. Breathe in through the nostrils into the lungs right down to the diaphram and expand the stomach area. Do not strain in doing so. In breathing out depress the stomach area with concentrated effort but not with the hands. Again do not strain. One in breath and one out breath is counted as one cycle. Do 3 cycles in the morning and 3 before going to sleep. Do not practice with a full stomach! Make sure there is no disturbance from anyone.
Of course I need to arm myself with a disclaimer that if you practise this breathing exercise and upon practising you are doing it at your own free will and risk and any side effect whether good or bad or otherwise resulted in practicing due to your existing health condition or wrong practicing or correct practicing does not fall on my part in describing and imparting this simple breathing exercise to you. I further claim all indemnity against all results good or bad or otherwise after your practice of this breathing exercise.

Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration

I shall share an event that took place yesterday in one of Singapore's busiest shopping area i.e. Chinatown.
When I was travelling downtown, all vehicles upon reaching the entrance of the road leading to Chinatown had to detour. I was wondering. What on earth was happening? The destination I was heading is a few miles away. After finishing my chores, I made my way to Chinatown to see for myself what event was taking place. After looking at banners hanged within the area, I realised that Chinatown was celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival. This festival is being observed by the Chinese since long time ago. Moon cakes and lanterns are related to this festival. It can also be called Moon Cake Festival or Lantern Festival. In ancient China, agriculture was very important and during harvesting time the farmers celebrated. This festival might be a festival relating to farming.
Later the forktale legend of Chang E, the beautiful immortal in the moon was added to give essence to the festival. Chang E stole the pill of immortality from her husband and swallowed it to save the people from him who was a tyrant. Upon taking the pill, she became an immortal and levitated to the moon.
During the Mongol Dynasty in China, the people was oppressed. There were rebellions trying to overthrow the foreign rulers. The rebels put messages in moon cakes which were a must in the celebration asking the masses to revolt against the Mongolians on the day of Mid-Autumn Festival. The rebellion was successful and invaders were driven out of Middle Kingdom i.e. China. Thus the start of the Ming Dynasty.
The celebration was to begin at 8 p.m. but when I reached there at about 5 p.m., multitudes of people were already gathering at the three stations where the celebration could be watched. There were hugh viewing screens at these stations. The stage was at the centre between the lst and 2nd stations. At the 1st station rows of chairs were arranged in rows for invited guests and dignitaries like the President of Singapore, the Member of Parliament for that area, the Mayor for that district, etc.
The celebration started with the usual speeches by the necessary dignitaries followed by the presentation of awards and honours. The President of Singapore was invited to light the hugh lantern with 2,000 over hand prints to kick off the celebration. Ten lighted Kong Ming lanterns were released and drifted higher and higher into the sky. Fireworks were set off. Dragon dances were performed with graceful movements. Dances, singing items, etc were also in the program. The performances lasted for about 2 hours and were watched by few thousands of people. There were many foreign tourists among the spectators but majority of the spectators were locals.
I was pondering whether this event will help boost the sales revenue in Chinatown.

Original Chi & Acquired Chi Explained

In the book of Genesis which is the first book in the Bible, it was written that God created man from the dust of the earth in his likeness. I do not know how a figurine made of earth can breathe and move. Lets take some earth and mould it into a shape of man and see whether it can breathe and move. We all know that it definitely wouldn't be able to. God must had done something! What did God do? God introduced his breath into man whence he started to breath and absorbed air from the atmosphere, thus the intake of chi. The breath of God introduced into the first man was the original chi and the air he breathed in was called acquired chi.
According to Chinese folklores, some said it was Pangu who created man and some said it was NuWa. The folktale originated from Hebei was the most acceptable from the rest. It recognised Pangu as the creator of man. Pangu created man in 1 (one) day and impregnated yin and yang into it. Yin cannot operate by itself but must be combined with yang to revolve to start an action. Thus the man being created started to breath and the intake of moving chi from the atmosphere began. The Hebrews called God by the name of Yehyuhwa. Human beings originated from the same source. NuWa and Yehyuhwa sounds quite alike. Is the God of the Hebrews and that of the Chinese the same? So far no reference can be found so let's forget it and leave it to our imagination.
The original chi of a baby starts to develop when the mother is pregnant. Upon being born, the baby after being hit on the buttock gives out a cry and starts to absorb chi from the atmosphere. The original chi and the absorbed chi acquired combine to start the engine within the baby. Thus enters a new living being into the world community.
Every moment human beings are breathing but the breathing is shallow. If we improve our breathing method to cultivate and develop it further with deeper breathing, our bodies will be stronger and healthier. In so doing we are practising chi kung. How about getting yourself started to reap the benefits of practising. It is not for the benefit of others but yourself. The decision is yours.

Chi kung and yoga for a healthy body and mind

As I sit gazing idly at the computer screen thinking of following problems:
(a) setting of an authentication rule
(b) pasting of code to my web page to begin using Google Analytics
a thought comes to my mind.
To some people because of religion consider chi kung and yoga as innovations that cannot be touched even though they are sick. I am puzzled over it. Chi kung and yoga are known to strengthen the body's immune system to combat illnesses. The practice of them can check, prevent, rectify to certain degree and in instances total cure happens. Yes, consulting a medical practitioner is a must but the taking of the prescribed medicine complement with practise of certain chi kung or yoga exercises would'nt it be better.
The creator gives us a body and we have the responsibilty to take care of it. When the forefather of man disobeyed him, we are destined to bear the consequence of facing hardship during our life span on earth. Tell me who on earth does not face hardship. If we do not have a strong body with sound mind, can we walk the destined path on this earth? Please take a moment to think about that!
Even though the ancient venues where chi kung and yoga were taught and the practitioners might be related to a certain religion, it does not mean that chi kung and yoga are related to that religion. As long as when we are practising, we are conscious of ourselves and our minds are concentrating on our bodies, there is no way for a spiritual force to enter our body.
It is known that when developing and circulating of chi wrongly, a person may go bersek. It is the chi that is giving the problem and nothing else. It is advisable that when practising, the calmness of the mind and the relaxation of the body is very important.
It is my hope that this article will not offend anybody in any way and my humble apology if it does.

Chi Kung

When this word is mentioned, the first thought that comes to the mind of readers is Chinese. Yes, no doubt, it is Chinese orientated and it has been practised in the Middle Kingdom ie China for countless centuries. The ancient Chinese discovered how to practise it through accidents and later try and error methods evolved. Soon various methods were invented and systems of chi kung soon followed.
It has been mentioned in many Chinese medical books and notably "The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine". The two great philosophers Lao Zi and Confucius were great chi kung masters. They passed their knowledge to their disciples. The five animals chi kung which was created from movements of the bear, the tiger, the bird, the deer and the ape originated from the famous physician Hua Tuo. Da Mo (Bodhidarma) the founder of Zen Buddhism noticed that the monks at Shaolin Temple were frail and weak. Some dozed off during lesson time. He taught them a set of 18 exercises to strengthen their bodies. Thus evolved Da Mo's Muscle and Tendon changing classics.
There may exist some form of chi practice in other parts of the world besides China in ancient times that a few inhibitants then were doing. But the funny thing is that no major record of that exists. The Mongols, Trojans, Greeks, Persians, Romans, Turks, Cossacks, etc were great warriors at one time or another and surely amongst them some of their famous fighters maybe practising chi in a certain way.
At the present moment there are thousands of chi kung styles. Millions of people all over the world practise it. It is being practised widely in China. Everyday there are new members entering the chi kung community.
During the execution of the exercises, body movements and breathing are involved. Some exercises are passive and are being done laying down, sitting or standing without any bodily movements. The most popular ones are done with bodily movements.
Chi kung has been encouraged to be practised to enhance health, strengthen the body, prevent illnesses, cure various sicknesses, relaxation of body and mind, etc.

Yoga

Yoga has its origin in India. It was widely practised during the Vedic period (about 1900 to 600 BC). The codification of all yoga literature was done by Patanjali.
There are many schools of yoga. The most famous great yoga systems are Hatha Yoga, Raja Yoga, Kundalini Yoga and Mantra Yoga. Besides these four systems, there are various others.
In ancient times ascetics left their homes and wandered to distant places especially in the Himalaya area where they lived alone as hermits or holy men to practise yoga in the hope of liberating themselves from the attachments of the body, mind and soul. After many many years of hard work, some achieved results of various degree and possessed superhuman or occult powers. They were called Yogis and could lie on beds of nails, remain buried underground, withstood very cold weather conditions, etc.
Yoga can help the practitioners to reduce or maybe eradicate stress resulted from modern day life styles. The constant practise of its physical exercises which are called asanas with the combination of breathing exercises called pranayamas will benefit a person in the long run. It not only relaxes one physically but also mentally.
With the advancement in these modern times, the practice of yoga and the objective in learning it are very much different from that of previous years. Commercialisation has taken place. Even its exercises maybe combine with elements from other physical exercises from systems revolutionalised long after the existence of yoga. But anyway modern day practice of yoga will still benefit its practitioners.

Story - Grateful birds buried a corpse

Greetings to all you readers who are visiting my site. I shall not write something factual or textual today but instead contribute a little story which I read and considered to be meaningful during this period of time when everybody including myself are chasing after money and leaving little time to ponder over the cumulating of merits i.e. good deeds. My apology to any western readers who may not like it as it is of an oriental origin.
The title of this story is "Grateful birds buried a corpse". Long time ago in a village in ancient China, there was a man who lived alone by himself. He was not rich but had a heart of gold. He used to accumulate money in order to buy birds which were kept in cages by other villagers. He then set the birds free. He was always happy when he saw the birds flying out of the cages and chirping away merrily. Inspite of being poor, he has freed many, many birds.
He left no money when he died. He also had no friends or relatives. There was no money for his funeral and his body was left on a hill-top. Not long, thousands of birds suddenly appeared. In their beaks were some soil. They then dropped the soil over the corpse of the kind-hearted man. Before the day was over, the corpse was completely covered with soil, giving him a decent burial. These grateful birds came back to repay the kindness which the man had bestalled on them.

Chi

What is chi? It is a Chinese word and means "breath" or "energy". In the body of each human being there is chi but many do not know it. In Europe, America, and those countries of the west the word sounds very much like a stranger. Science cannot explain its concrete existence even though some scientific work has been carried out. The yogis of India called it prana. To the Japanese, especially the practitioners of aikido, it is called ki. The Chinese are aware of it for many many centuries.
The chi is inherited from the parents. This chi is called the original chi. The life span of a person depends very much on the amount of chi inherited. Once this original chi is used up, the person may depart from this world. Every day a person uses a certain amount of chi. Sexual activity consumes a large amount. Many ancient Chinese especially those used to cultivating chi are very careful on their sexual activities.
Chi travels in chi channels situated within the human body. There are branches connected to the chi channels and together they transport chi to various parts of the body. If there is any obstruction in the flow of chi, the person will fall ill.
With practice chi can be used to check and prevent sicknesses. It can also reduces the degree of sicknesses. It has been known that certain sicknesses are healed by diligent and constant practice of chi kung.

Do not know how to start

Hi and thanks to everyone visiting my site. This is my first attempt writing on the net and I really do not know how to begin. After referring to various materials, my initial courage and determination vanished leaving me confused. What bothers me are the choosing of a title, using of niche phrases and the content structure. Procrastination sets in and many a time I deliberated on whether to contribute. It was only this morning (12th August 2008), Singapore time that an inspiration on taking this approach came to my mind. I need help from the internet community to render me some hints on the contents that can attract young, old, etc. readers. May be some kind souls can give me a few tips in regards to choosing of title and the use of niche phrases also. It is my hope that this approach will not offend anyone and my apology if it does. With your help I wish that I can contribute effectively to the internet circle.
